Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Porto, Stratum has grown from a two-person practice into an internationally recognised studio with offices in Lisbon and London. We believe that the built environment shapes how people think, feel, and relate to one another — and we take that responsibility seriously.

Every project begins with deep listening. We immerse ourselves in your life, your aspirations, and the story of the site before a single line is drawn.
- Concept
Define the idea.
A single governing idea — spatial, material, experiential — becomes the compass for every decision that follows. Clarity of concept is everything.
- Design
Develop and detail.
From massing to materiality, we resolve every element with the same rigour. Technical excellence is not separate from beauty — it is its foundation.
- Build
Craft on site.
We remain closely involved throughout construction, working with master craftspeople to ensure the built work matches the precision of the design.
